Construction Plans at LHS

History: Measures B & K

On June 3, 2008, voters in the Fremont Union High School District passed Measure B, a $198 million school bond. Funding from Measure B supported the following construction projects at Lynbrook High School (View details here).

Due to the larger enrollment at the other schools in the district, the District and it’s Bond Management Team had to restructure the original Program Implementation Plan (PIP). CHS, HHS, MVHS and FHS needed additional classroom space. Based on the need for additional classrooms, larger facilities, and infrastructure modernization the Bond Management Team hired architects to Master Plan each site.  These Master Plans will help ensure that projects are identified, prioritized, designed and executed in the proper order to allow for efficiencies in construction and site facility use while maintaining a unique vision for each campus (View LHS Master Plan).

On November 4, 2014, voters in the Fremont Union High School District by a vote of 64.84%,  passed Measure K, a $295 million school bond. Out of Measure K, LHS is receiving a large portion of the funds, with three major projects funded. A large portion of funding from the last bond, Measure B, did go to several other schools in the district (particularly Fremont and Cupertino) due to the age of the facilities, the significant modernization needs that existed on those campuses, and enrollment growth needs.  The full Measure K Project List and Budget list is posted on the FUHSD website.

Lynbrook's Master Plan

The documents that result from the master process will include a conceptual drawing of the campus along with a narrative describing changes.  It is important to note that the master plan is NOT a building plan. It will not reflect specific layouts or architectural designs for any of the facilities but will show proposed development and locations of new facilities. View the LHS Master Plan here.

Transformation in 3 Phases

Phase 1: LHS Field House Addition and Restroom Remodel

To minimize the displacing of students during construction, the first project will be the building of new Fitness Center/ Weight Room, Dance Studio, and PE Classroom. This multi-story building will be placed behind the current Field House and across from Stober Field and the Lynbrook Viking Stadium. The plans were submitted to The Division of the State Architect in June 2016. Once DSA approval is given, the project will go out to bid and the building process can begin. Construction on this $7 million project is expected to begin in March of 2017 and should be complete by March of 2018.

Phase 2: LHS Gym Lobby, Cafeteria, Quad and ASB

The meetings to plan Phase 2 started in Spring of 2016.  A team of teachers, parents, students, and administrators worked together to provide input into the design of this vital area of campus. Quattrocchi Kwok Architects presented the programming phase presentation at the FUHSD board meeting on  October 11, 2016. View the presentation here.

The FUHSD Board approved the programming plans for the new Quad and new Cafeteria. This $15 million project is currently in the design phase, with construction scheduled to begin in 2018. Once the building plans are complete, they will be submitted to the FUHSD Board of Trustees for approval. Once board approval has been given, the plans will be submitted to The Division of the State Architect.

Construction is expected to begin immediately after the completion of Phase 1 in Summer of 2018.quad.jpg

Phase 3: New Guidance and Students Services Building and Auditorium Lobby Addition

This will be the last planned Measure K Bond Project at Lynbrook. Programming for the conceptual design of Phase 3 is expected to begin in early 2018. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2019 with a targeted completion of 2020.
