Today in History:  On this day in 1977, President Jimmy Carter and Panamanian dictator Omar Torrijos signed the Panama Canal Treaties agreeing to transfer control of the Panama Canal from the United States to Panama at the end of the 20th century.

PSAT - The PSAT will be given at Lynbrook on Saturday, October 13th at 7:30AM. Registration for juniors begins on Tue. Sept. 4th. Registration for sophomores begins on Tue. Sept. 11th.  Registration ends on Tue. Sept. 18th. This exam is not open to Freshman or any students outside of Lynbrook. You register in the ASB office with Mrs. Boehm. Registration is non-refundable and costs $30.00. Student must bring Student ID. Please make checks payable to FUHSD. / K. Sullivan


Legislative Council Applications DUE 9/14: Do you want to create change on campus?  Now’s your chance!  Applications for ASB Legislative Council Representatives are open until Friday, September 14th.  Legislative Council is a group of student leaders that bridge staff, students, and ASB. This is a great opportunity for students of all grades to gain leadership experience:  you’ll often be the first to find out new information about events, present to a 3rd period class, and voice your opinion on school matters such as passing new clubs. To apply, fill out a quick application at bit.ly/applyforleg.  Applications are due Friday, September 14th at 4 PM.  The first Leg Council meeting is on September 25th during Tutorial in Room 002.  All students are welcome. / J. Closed Campus Reminder: A reminder to all students- Lynbrook is a closed campus, except during lunch hour. This means you cannot leave campus during tutorial or brunch or if you have a hole in your schedule. If you are leaving campus for an appointment, you must pick up an off campus pass from the Attendance Office prior to leaving.  / K. Sullivan


Student Parking: A current 2018-2019 student parking pass must be displayed in a student vehicle that is parked in the LHS student parking lot. Students may only park in student parking spaces. To purchase a parking pass, see Mrs. Boehm in the ASB office, room 006B. Parking passes are $5. Vehicles not in compliance may be cited. / J. Ramirez


Homework Center - Come to Homework Center and get a head start on your homework before going home or going to sports practice. Homework center is open 3:30pm-5:00pm, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Bring your student ID card if you wish to check out a textbook. / M. Otoshi


Are you interested in law enforcement or wonder what police work is like? Want to go on a ride-along? The Sheriff’s Office runs a free, 12-week program that is designed to provide students with an inside look at the various aspects of law enforcement. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings, from 6-9pm, at Monta Vista High School. Applications are due no later than September 16. If you’re interested, see your Guidance Counselor for an application!



Juniors and Seniors:

FUHSD is partnering with De Anza and Foothill Colleges this Fall Quarter to offer after-school college courses at Monta Vista and at Cupertino’s campuses.  

  • At CHS will be De Anza’s Intercultural Communication - Tues/Thurs from 4-5:50pm
  • At MVHS will be Foothill’s Calculus D - Mon/Tues/Wed from 4-5:25pm  

Classes begin on September 24.   If you have any questions, please see your Guidance Counselor. 



Club Information Day:  Are you excited about joining some of the many service and competition clubs on campus?  Then make sure to come to the basketball courts today at lunch for the last Club Info Day.  Browse, sign up, and have fun learning about some of Lynbrook’s most distinguished clubs.  See you there! / J. 2018-2019 National Honors Society Membership Application: Attention to all Juniors and Seniors, the National Honor Society is now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year. All interested students must have at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA. Applications have been sent out via School Loop Email, so check your email! Please read over the application carefully to make sure you get all the required components. Applications are due Monday, September 10th, 3pm to Mrs. Yang’s box in the main office. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Yang.



Seniors: If you are applying early to a college, your senior folder will be due on Tuesday (9/11). Senior Folders will be collected and processed during Tutorial, Brunch, Lunch and 7th period ONLY, in the area between the Library and Office. / LHS Counselors
