2015 CalGames Robotics Competition
On Friday and Saturday October 2nd and 3rd, 36 Bay Area teams competed and over 700 people attended the annual CalGames Robotics competition, which was hosted by Lynbrook High School and the Funky Monkeys. The Funky Monkeys narrowly missed winning in the two final nail-biting matches by only a two point margin: a 130-128 win and a 164-166 loss. Congratulations go to the winning alliance: Wolfpack of Elk Grove, the Warriorborgs of San Jose and the Apes of Wrath of Mountain View. The Funky Monkeys ended as finalists with their alliance captain Spartan Robotics of Mountain View, and their partner the RoboDores of Monterey.
The Funky Monkeys were recognized with the Entrepreneurship Award.
Here is what the judges said:
- Their graduating students spend hundreds of hours developing curricula for next year’s students, ensuring a strong pipeline.
- Showing great teamwork and leadership, raising funds for their district, their efforts benefited not just their own school, but five schools.
- They raised the bar – again – with a compelling photo journal for sponsors, newsletters, and a business plan.
- This team could teach branding to 90% of the companies in Silicon Valley – their logo is so well known they can be identified without their name or team number!
- In recognition of these practices, the Entrepreneurship Award goes to...Team 846, the Funky Monkeys, from Lynbrook High School
The Funky Monkeys wish to thank Lynbrook High School for hosting the 2015 CalGames Robotics Competition. We will certainly be looking forward to next year’s CalGames!
Congratulations to Nan Nan Liu!
